8th of June - Departing Singapore. All our bags were checked-in...thank goodness cuz it was a hassle travelling by train from Bukit Panjang 2 Changi Airport with those heavy bags! We took our last few pictures together before entering the departure gate. Even my girlfriend got a chance 2 join in the picture with my family! That was her first time seeing my family, and also her first time seeing me off at the airport. Did u cry when I left? Hehehe!

We started our journey from Singapore 2 Brisbane at 11pm. We were onboard Emirates' Economy class. Economy class was good enough, Business or First class could have costed us about $4,000 each!

We flew 3827 miles (6158 kilometres) southwards, which took us approximately 7 long hours 2 reach our destination. Unfortunately I could hardly sleep throughout the journey. That is because if u r paying less for the flight ticket, this is what u'll get - Restricted leg space, narrow aisle, and confined seating area. Imagine 7 hours or more seating in diz kind of place, I doubt u can even rest your eyes. Well anyway I am lucky 2 stand at only 168cm...if I were 2 go any taller like 180, I'll experience economy class syndrome. Any fatter of my size or just an inproportionate small bodied but with XXL butt, I'll develop claustrophobia and have myself stucked in the squeezy seat!

It wasn't so bad afterall, I've got in-flight entertainment 2 keep myself happy. =)

We arrived Brisbane at 8am local time, which is 2 hours ahead of Singapore's time. The moment I walked out of the airport, I started 2 shiver cold. The weather over there was chilling 17 degree celcius, with the breezy, dry air while standing under the shade, that feels like 10 degree celcius! How I had wish for the winter season in Australia is snowy. =)

We travelled by road this time round. Our tour van fetched us from Brisbane airport and drove us another 100km to Aristocrat Apartment at Gold Coast. Hmm..I noticed that the suburbs which lies between Gold Coast and Brisbane, looks similar with some parts of Malaysia. It's like a hybrid America-Malaysia. Whatever it is...just keep your face out of the window and breathe in the fresh, clean Australia's air.

About an hour later...we arrived Aristocrat Apartment.

We explored Surfers Paradise town on our FIRST DAY at Gold Coast. The town isn't so near...we had 2 walk about 1km down the road. Despite the long walking distance, it was worthwhile cuz the weather makes my skin feels dry and comfortable. And of cuz, along the way I snapped some pictures!

SECOND DAY at Gold Coast - We visited Movie World!

Movieworld has exciting street shows, and several theme rides. On the streets, u can find people who impersonate as Batman, Marilyn Monroe, Austin Powers and more! They could even mimic the way the original characters move. Like how they dig their nose?

The best of all, I took the Lethal Weapon rollercoaster ride. It doesn't have any carriages like other rollercoasters have. My seat was small enough 2 fit an average sized adult. I was only held secured by fasterners down my both shoulders and my chest, with no support for my legs. When this machine starts, it swirls as it speeds down the track then roll as it makes a sudden turn. With your legs hanging up in the air as the rollercoaster goes through the loops, it certainly makes this ride incredible!

Oh...Mr. Nigel died from shock after the ride.

THRID DAY at Gold Coast - We visited Dreamworld!

Dreamworld has Spongebob Squarepants! (I watched Spongebob Squarepants cartoon marathon back at apartment almost daily.) They have lotsa thrilling theme rides too! One of them which I took, was Tower of Terror. That was the craziest ride! U'll be in a open-roofed car with 14 other passengers. It'll ACCELERATE to 160km/h on a 300-metre track, in 7 seconds before it climbs up a 38-storey tower! It doesn't end there, the car will reverse...letting u experience 6 seconds of weightlessness before it return 2 the station. Damn...it was an extreme breath-taking experience!

Other than that, I took River Ride, and Wipeout. River Ride is like the water ride rollercoaster at Escape Singapore, except that the latter is a smaller version. Wipeout is erm...I dunnoe..it spins a lot..up and down...it'll make me feel giddy if I talk about it.

Slurpee or ice cream softee anyone?

SUBSEQUENT DAYS at Gold Coast - We shopped for 90% of the time and enjoyed at the Surfers Paradise beach for the remaining 10%.

Harbour Town is a good place for bargain shopping! Getting 2 Harbour Town was easy but quite costly. We took the bus which costed us AUD$6.00 for a 2-way trip...but u can still use the ticket unlimited times a day. So it'll be a waste for those intend 2 take the bus only ONCE. Talking about expensive transportation, taking a taxi there was worse. I videotaped the amazing taxi meter...here's one I uploaded below.

The journey was only about 7 minutes! See that...it rises 10 cents every about 3 seconds! Meaning taking a taxi from Bukit Panjang 2 Tampines will cost about $50..yeah..cool indeed. I should have been more observant, because probably the driver had pressed a button which says "Tourist Onboard", which immediately speeds up the fare meter. Hmm...

Afterall, our taxi fare was offset by our cheap shopping items. Here's the list of items I've bought at a pretty good bargain.

RUSTY sweatsuit with hood at $50
RIPCURL pair of shoes at $40
LE COQ SPORTIF sling bag at $50
DOT COM SURF boardshorts at $15
BILLABONG bermudas at $39
RIPCURL belt at $19

There were even Surf brand wallets, beanies, caps, and small bags, selling at $5-$15 range! Harbour Town is Australia's Mustafa Centre.

Now finally we've come 2 the remaining 10% portion - The beach!

Surfer's Paradise beach's sand is so fine and smooth that u can get a handful of the sand and put it in a hourglass. The shore is soo WIDE, the beach sand spreads about 100m in width! When u walk, u'll feel twice as far cuz of the soft sand, which sinks your feet down. The waters so icy cold, dip your hand in and wait for your nerves 2 turn freezy. The waters so clear till u can see what's beneath! The ocean has an amazing blue backdrop of the sky. COol BLUE. When the sun rises, the horizon will be perfectly sunbaked, with the sunrays spreading evenly through the fluffy clouds. Surfers Paradise...oOh what a beauty!

Yeah me, my bro-in-law and the kids, did sandcastling. It was rather pathetic cuz the Surfers were staring at me, well u see...the waves are good for Surfers, and the beach is good for Tanners. I was sure they had never seen a Sandcastler. "Yeah u guys are surfers? Well...i'm a Sandcastler!" Does dat sounds cool 2 u? To think only Surfers impress the crowd, my piece of art attracted many passerbys. Well I was surprised that they actually like it, 2 the extent of a couple decided 2 take photo with it! Hmm...I should have charged em AUD$10.

Before the sky turns dark around 5.30pm, I walked 2 the beach and looked for seashells. That was the best time, cuz the sea breeze will be stronger, so I could find the seashells hidden underneath the sand. I thought, these seashells would be like a souvenir...I could give em 2 my gurlfey! =) I found a bird feather too. It came from one of the Australian birds of course. Nyahar!

8 days stay at Gold Coast was wonderful...yet it can burn a hole in your pocket at the end of the week. One fast food meal costs about AUD$7.00. Since there aren't many halal food available, halal food which u can find at Gold Coast is BLOODY expensive. One Malaysian Restaurant knocked hundred bucks out of us for only a few dishes! It wasn't really a fine dine-in restaurant by the way. Furthermore their service standard was poor! One waitress kept tellin me about 'nuggie', when I asked for chicken slices. So what was dat mysterious 'nuggie'? It's actually 'nuggets'. Pfft!

Nevertheless, I love Gold Coast. It was an all thumbs-up holiday for me! More like a great BIRTHDAY gift! I miss the friendly people down there and strangers who could even joke with me. There was one feeling I could not endure when I was there - The feeling of missing my gurlfey. 10 days being away from her made me feel like coming back home. Sometimes at night, I would visit the PC in my lobby and logged into MSN. I used for a reasonable 20 minutes just 2 chat with her, at an unreasonable rate of $2 per 10 minutes of usage! We really missed each other so lots! I'm glad that now i'm finally home and I can see my sweet gurl whenever I want to!

Hmm...if I can drive 2 Gold Coast from Singapore...I'm going there on my next weekend. =)
